La comparaison peut porter sur un adjectif, un adverbe, une quantité ou une action.

I. COMPARATIF DE SUPERIORITE: PLUS ........ QUE

1. 1.PLUS DE = MORE.
   

2.      ex: He drinks more whisky ( sur la quantité: MORE avant le nom)
   

        ex: He plays more ( sur une action: MORE après le verbe)

2. PLUS ...QUE ( sur un adjectif):

1. a)adjectif court:  adjectif + ER + THAN .                 
   

2. ex: I am tallER THAN  you.
   

2. b)adjectif long:   MORE + adjectif + THAN .            
   

3. ex: I am MORE intelligent THAN you.
   

II. COMPARATIF D’INFERIORITE:MOINS ....... QUE

MOINS ..... QUE = LESS + adjectif + THAN .           

ex: He is LESS intelligent  THAN you.

III. COMPARATIF D’EGALITE:      AUSSI ......  QUE

AUSSI ......  QUE = AS + adjectif + AS .            

ex: He is AS clever AS you are.

IV. COMPARATIF D’INEGALITE:PAS AUSSI ......  QUE

PAS AUSSI ......  QUE = NOT AS/SO + adjectif + AS.

ex: He is NOT AS tall AS you are.

V. SUPERLATIF:    LE PLUS .............

1. a)adjectif court: THE + adjectif + EST.
   

2. ex: He is THE tallEST boy in the team.
   

2. b)adjectif long: THE MOST + adjectif.
   

3. ex: She is THE MOST beautiful girl in town!
